WHAT IS

mindfulness?

Mindfulness is about paying attention in the present moment in a particular way, with qualities like compassion, curiosity and acceptance.  It is about learning to live in the present moment in an enjoyable way, rather than fretting about the past or worrying about the future.  The past has already gone and can’t be changed.  The future is yet to arrive and is completely unknown. 

 

Practicing mindfulness and living mindfully means being open to all experiences as they are, rather than wishing for things to be different, hiding from life’s challenges or clinging to pleasure.  And without getting lost in unhelpful thoughts and self-judgment.

 

Through mindfulness, people begin to see and appreciate life around them more fully, discovering the joy of being rather than doing.
